About Us

Humera Shahid is a non-profit organisation in Pakistan with partners across the globe. We aim to improve the conditions of the underprivileged communities of our society in terms of Education, Healthcare Services, and Women & Youth Empowerment.

Our Vision

Transforming lives of the underprivileged communities across the globe by utilising the resources and expertise available, making a difference by enabling free access to healthcare and education. Empowering, emancipating and enlightening Women & the Youth for a better today and a brighter tomorrow.

Our Mission

Due to the stigmas and taboos surrounding menstruation has caused difficulties for women in education. The mission is to remove this stigma where we aspire to provide education about menstruation together with free access to pads and tampons, as we believe it is a necessity, not a luxury. Ensuring that these necessities are met is when we can transform the lives of the people and have a better and brighter future.

How it all gets started……

The Humera Shahid Organisation came into being with a primary focus on the period poverty and the associated problem of non-existent or inadequate facilities for feminine hygiene; Humera Shahid comes up with a solution by providing sanitary pads along with the installation of sanitary pad dispensers in School, Colleges, Universities, and various other public places for free!!! As millions of girls in developing countries miss 20% of school due to lack of access to feminine hygiene products. Moreover, if toilet paper, soap, and paper towels are free and widely available, why not pads?

The organisation was then later joined by university students from all across the world. Thus, making it a student-led initiative that runs for the students by the students.

More than just being a charity…..

We not just provide free Menstrual products and dispensers to institutions but also make sure that our projects run sustainably and independently. To achieve this goal, we have our wonderful volunteers, also known as ‘HsO ambassadors’, who take the responsibility to collect donations locally and keep the project running. This saves the organisation’s time and money, as by just bearing the initial setup costs, it can focus and expand in other deprived areas without any unnecessary burden or concerns of the previous ones.
